January opening 2021
On December 30th the government announced that due to the high number of cases in the area, primary schools in Barnet are only reopening for critical worker and vulnerable children from 4th January. A list of who these are can be found here critical workers. This is due to be reviewed by the government on 18th January. If you require support and your child is not already attending school through the critical worker scheme and you think you should, please contact the school office by phone or email and we will get in touch with you.
Provision at school should only be requested as a last resort. Cases in Barnet are extremely high and we need to do all we can to reduce the rate of infection. This is the best way to ensure that we can reopen as soon as possible for everyone.
We will be providing online lessons in order to ensure we are covering the National Curriculum. Our online school will be available from Monday 4th January including morning and afternoon registration. Staggered zoom registration times will be organised to allow siblings to see their teacher. All work and communication with Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 will be through Google Classrooms.
We appreciate that every family situation is different and that we are all trying our best. You know what is right for your family. If you have any concerns or questions about achieving the work set, please email the main office and someone will get back to you.
Daily morning and afternoon Registration (via Zoom)
We are very aware that many families will be working from home and may not be able to support their children all the time. We therefore will create a proposed timetable for you and your child to follow however the timings can be adapted if needed. For the majority of teaching we will create short videos to support the learning which means that you will have flexibility for your child to complete the work in your own time if needed. This also means that it can be repeated, paused, stopped and reviewed as many times as needed. If you have any concerns about completing the work, please contact the teacher via Google Classrooms or office email.
Details for your child’s Registration Zoom login (which will remain the same during this lockdown period) will be available on your child’s Google Classroom Stream (where homework is set). Details for the learning timetable will also be posted here.
To ensure that information does not get missed, please use Google Classrooms to communicate with your child’s teacher. Children can ask their teacher questions about their learning through Google Classroom. This can be done through the assignment on the ‘instruction’ page, in the ‘class comments’ function.
All children will have equal opportunities to access the online curriculum, whether they are working at home or in school. Pupils that attend school will be provided with laptops to access the online learning set by their teacher, under the supervision of support staff in school - this will be the same learning that can be accessed at home through Google Classroom.
